About us
We want to share this very special place with more people.
For us, this is not just about a place to sleep, but about a respite – a little piece of peace by the Sognefjord where everyday life lets go.
Here you will find history in the walls, fresh air in your lungs and good time around the table. We have made sure that you feel at home – whether you come to fish, explore the fjord, enjoy nature or just relax.
When we moved back to Wærholmen, we knew there was something unique here. With views of the fjord and history in every stone, we have spent millions and many working hours renovating the house, boathouse and outdoor area.
The old boat loft has now been converted into a cozy and modern apartment. The boathouse – where Laila's father built boats for decades – has been restored and is ready for a new life. Tools and traditions from the old boatbuilding are still in place, and we hope to create a vibrant environment here again.
This is more than a place to live. It is a place to live – and a place to share.
Welcome to Wærholmen – we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Wærholm Harbour
Our small harbor is well sheltered in the bay and has been in use since the 18th century. Today it functions as a quiet and safe guest harbor for small boats and visitors.
Here you can dock, fill with water, get electricity and take a break on the pier. If you have your own boat and want to stay over – get in touch!
Wærholm Coastal Association/ Coastal Association
Wærholmen is part of the Coastal Association, and we work actively to preserve the coastal culture in this area. Our coastal association brings together people who want to contribute, learn and share knowledge about boats, building practices and traditional crafts.
We arrange courses, meetings and volunteer work – and hope more people will join in and keep the old boatbuilding industry alive.
